When you think about “gatherings” what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? I would really love to learn about different perspectives so feel free to comment on this article below, and share with me one word that best describes your feelings towards gatherings.
For me as the Events Manager at Growmotely, gatherings are part of my work here: I create, plan and host them.
For me as a Human Being: gatherings are a way to connect, feel a sense of belonging and create communities all around the world.
I was curious to learn how the idea of events started and here’s a bit from what I have found, taken from a blog piece called ‘A Brief History of Event Management: Event Planning Then and Now’:
“The earliest recorded events and gatherings promoted peace and friendship between tribes and clans, and the first known event planner was Cleopatra. She hosted elaborate, lavish, sumptuous meetings in pursuit of potential lovers.

The introduction of mobile phones and the internet also had an enormous impact on event planning. With the use of these electronics, communication could now happen at any time during the day, from anywhere in the world. Individuals can now create, locate, register, and document an event by using one small portable device.”
With the evolution of work into flexible and remote work, people from all around the world are now able to easily connect, share ideas and thoughts, learn about different cultures and eventually create communities around these gatherings.
If you pay attention to how gatherings have evolved over the decades it is always around a certain NEED…whether it’s searching for connection, learning something new, improving one’s life or a sense of belonging.
As an Events Manager, I’m here to be of service and offer valuable and high-quality masterclasses so I would like to learn more about your needs when it comes to gathering, so feel free to drop your thoughts in the survey below.👇
